Shirley Baptist Church Protection of Adults at Risk Policy
Policy Statement
Shirley Baptist Church has a spiritual, moral and legal duty to ensure that it functions with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk.
The Trustees of SBC are committed to ensuring that this Church
- Provides a safe environment for adults at risk
- Identifies adults at risk who are suffering
- Takes appropriate action to see that such adults at risk are kept safe from harm
In pursuit of these aims, SBC will annually review and approve policies and procedures with the aim of:
- Raising awareness of issues relating to the welfare of adults at risk and the promotion of a safe environment for adults at risk.
- Providing procedures for reporting concerns
- Establishing procedures for reporting and dealing with allegations of abuse
SBC has nominated Brenda Greenwood as Designated Person with responsibility for adults at risk.
Volunteers working with adults at risk should receive training adequate to familiarise them with adults at risk protection issues and responsibilities and the Churches procedures and policies.
The Ministry Team will receive from the designated person for adults at risk an annual report which reviews how the duties have been discharged.
This policies and procedures document is a summary and application of “Safe to Belong”, the safeguarding adults at risk policy of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
